Getting started with Anjadhe

Install the app, set up your first focus areas, and connect the tools you use every day.

Welcome to Anjadhe. This guide walks you through the first steps after installing the app.

Install the app

Download the latest build from the Download page and drag Anjadhe into your Applications folder. On first launch, macOS will ask for permission to run the app — approve it in System Settings if prompted.

Set up your focus areas

Focus Areas are the top-level categories of your life: Career, Health, Learning, Relationships, Finance. They're your compass. Start with three or four — you can always add more later.

  1. Open Anjadhe and click Focus in the sidebar.
  2. Click Add Focus Area and give it a name.
  3. Optionally add a short description of what this area means to you.

Build a habit

Inside each focus area, you can build habits — the small recurring behaviors that compound into the person you want to be. Anjadhe's Habits app is built on the four laws of behavior change from Atomic Habits: a clear cue, a craving, the smallest version of the action, and a satisfying reward.

  1. Open Habits in the sidebar and click + New Habit.
  2. Write the action in its smallest form — Write 200 words, not Finish a chapter.
  3. Add the identity you're stepping into — I'm a writer. Identity is what makes a habit stick.
  4. Add a cueAfter morning coffee — to anchor it in your existing routine.
  5. Pick a cadence: daily, or specific days of the week.

Tap the circle once a day to mark it done. The streak counts only scheduled days, so a weekday habit won't break on Saturday. If you want to break a habit instead, switch the polarity to Break — the four laws invert (make it invisible, unattractive, hard, unsatisfying), and tapping records "I avoided it today."

Add a goal

Goals sit alongside habits, also under a focus area. Where habits are recurring behaviors, goals are specific outcomes — things with a finish line.

Good goal: Ship the v1 release of the mobile app by the end of Q2.

Less useful goal: Work on the mobile app.

The shorthand: habits build the identity, goals define the outcomes. Both live under each focus area.

Break goals into tasks

Tasks are the day-to-day actions that move a goal forward. From a goal, create tasks and assign them a cadence — daily, weekly, or one-time.

Your home dashboard automatically shows today's habits and today's tasks grouped by focus area, so you always know what to work on next.

Connect your tools

Anjadhe can optionally connect to external services to bring their data into your dashboard:

  • Gmail — priority emails are analyzed on-device, and action items are extracted directly into your task list.
  • Google Calendar — see events alongside your tasks in one place.

Open Settings → Connected Accounts to add an account. You can toggle individual services on or off at any time.

Enable AI

Anjadhe ships with local AI through Ollama. Open Settings → AI to download a model (Gemma is a good default). Everything runs on-device by default — your data never leaves your machine.

If you want more advanced reasoning, you can optionally connect a remote model like Claude. Personal data is automatically anonymized before it leaves your device.

That's the basics. Explore the rest of the app — Notes, Journal, Bookmarks, Quotes, Portfolio, Budget — at your own pace. Everything is optional; use only the parts that fit how you work.
